League Rules

​Tournament Rules

About the Tournament

  • Games will consist of 10min for each quarter x4

  • 5 seconds closely guarded rule in effect

  • Shot clock 24 seconds every quarter

  • 4th quarter stop clock in the last 3 minutes. Stop clock on every whistle/violation

  • 5 fouls on any one player is disqualified from the game

  • Teams with only 3 players will be forfeited

  • Player's who intend to be just a fill-in will not be allowed

  • Substitution has to be done at the committee-score table and inform of the intent to substitute a player

  • Game rules, including mechanics of the game are always subject to change by our committee officials or by our commissioner

Technical Fouls

  • Player will be automatically ejected from the game if they get two technical fouls or two unsportsmanlike foul or one of each violation

  • 1 technical foul violation, A player needs to be subbed out for at least 2 minutes before he can return to play

  • United Basketball League reserves the right to to suspend or ban any player(s) who is or are ejected  from the game depending on the extent or seriousness of the violation committed. This will be reviewed by the committee/games officials

Time Out

1 time out for the first, second, third quarter and 2 time out in the fourth quarter

Overtime

First overtime is 3min and the succeeding OT is 1 minute​

Barangayan / Passarelle

  • This rule will only apply in the first half. All players must play even/equal playing time or at least relatively close in the first half. You can do it in any way that works best for your team. For ex. First

  • 5 players gets all subbed out after 5 minutes and replace with your 2nd unit team of 5 players or for more players you can  do it this way 20(min) ÷ 10(number of players) x 5 to get a rough a estimate of playing time for each player.

  • The purpose of this rule is for everyone to enjoy the game, given more minutes of playing time and  given the opportunity to work on their skills and gain confidence. Sharing Time is Caring.

You agree and acknowledge that participation in any of our basketball games, tournaments, involves physical activity and may include inherent risks, such as the possibility of injury, including but not limited to sprains, strains, fractures, concussions, and other injuries. You agree and acknowledge that United Basketball League, it's staff, members and volunteers will not be held responsible against any injuries, harm, death, claims, liabilities, damages, losses, cost and expenses (including reasonable attorney's fees), accidents or any adverse outcomes that may result from playing in any of our basketball tournaments, pick up games or in connection with your use of this site.

You also confirm that you are in good physical health and capable of participating in the basketball league and agree to inform the league organizers immediately if your health status changes or if you are unable to safely participate in any league activities.

Registration

  • No Pay, No Play rules. Player's need to pay in full before the start of the tournament. If you do need more time to pay please let us know and we may able to work something out (subject for approval).

  • Your Registration fee helps keep the league running! Every player is required to pay in full regardless if they play or not or how many times they play. This ensures the smooth operation of the league and all necessary expenses are covered

No Refund Policy

​All registration fees and payments for participating in the tournament are non-refundable. Once your registration is confirmed or payment is made we do not offer refunds. This ensures the league runs smoothly by covering upfront costs, maintaining team balance, and ensuring fairness and commitment from all participants

Photography and Media Release

By joining the tournament or in any of our games you agree the use of your image, likeness, and/or voice for promotional purposes related to the basketball league, including but not limited to photographs, videos, and social media posts. You understand that you will not receive compensation for such use.

Uniform Policy 

Each player should wear their team uniform. A single player who don’t wear the proper uniform, 5 points will be added to the opposing team, 2 players and more who don’t wear their uniform 10 points will be added to the opposing team. We will give a leeway to a player who hasn’t pick up their uniform yet due to a very justifiable cause.

Fun First Policy

All UBL members and players, regardless of skill level, prioritize fun above all. Our Event Hosts create a fun and safe environment for teams, recognizing and coaching players while making calls based on their experience with the game. UBL expects players to self-officiate, displaying good sportsmanship to govern their behaviour. We encourage open communication and camaraderie between teams.

Discipline

UBL Event Hosts have the final say on any issue that cannot be resolved by the players.

If you are observed being rude or not respecting the rules, the Event Host has the right to ask you to sub out and take a break. If further warnings are necessary, the Event Host may ask you to leave the field or court, with an assessment to determine if you can return to play. We have a zero-tolerance policy for unsportsmanlike behaviour—play fair.​

 

Violence

Zero Tolerance Policy for any violence and abuse, that includes hitting, punching, shoving, kicking verbal abuse, threatening behaviou  r is also not permitted. Depending on the nature or severity, United Basketball League may suspend, ban a player or any person and contact police if required.
